इस साल भी गणेश चतुर्थी पर गणेशजी की और नवदुर्गा उत्सव में देवी की प्लास्टर ऑफ़ पेरिस की मूर्तियां ही विराजित होंगी। बड़े पैमाने पर बनने वाली प्लास्टर ऑफ पेरिस (पीओपी) की मूर्तियों को बनने से रोकने में प्रशासन, नगर निगम, प्रदूषण विभाग असफल हो गया। प्रशासन ने आदेश तो जारी कर दिए, मगर कार्रवाई नहीं की! शहर में मूर्तिकारों ने करीब 4 लाख मूर्तियां बना ली और करीब 80% मूर्तियों के सौदे भी कर दिए, प्रशासन की नींद नहीं खुली!
गणेश चतुर्थी और नवरात्री से पहले हर साल प्रशासन नेशनल ग्रीन ट्रिब्यूनल (एनजीटी) के दिशा निर्देशों का हवाला देकर आदेश जारी करता है। पानी में होने वाले प्रदूषण को लेकर प्लास्टर ऑफ़ पेरिस की मूर्तियां न बनाने की बात कही जाती है। जबकि, होता कुछ नहीं है।जबकि, सामाजिक संस्थाएं आगे आकर मिट्टी की मूर्ति निर्माण को लेकर जनजागरूकता अभियान जरूर चलाती हैं। लेकिन, सरकारी सख्ती के बिना इस काम को रोक पाना आसान नहीं है। गणेश चतुर्थी व नवदुर्गा उत्सव को लेकर कुंभकार समाज के लोग पीओपी की मूर्तियों को न सिर्फ निर्माण करते हैं, बल्कि जलीय जीव जन्तुओं के लिए हानिकारक रासायनिक कलर का इस्तेमाल करते हैं। मिट्टी की मूर्तियों के समर्थन में सामाजिक संस्थाएं व बंगाली कलाकार आगे आए हैं। लेकिन, इन्हें किसी भी प्रकार का सहयोग जिला प्रशासन, नगर निगम की ओर से नहीं किया जा रहा। इसके बावजूद सामाजिक संस्थाएं मिट्टी की मूर्ति के प्रति लोगों में अलख जगा रही है।
पीओपी की मूूर्तियों नदी के पानी में विसर्जित होने के बाद जल्दी गलती नहीं है, जिससे पानी प्रदूषित होता रहता है। जवाहर टेकरी स्थित तालाब में पिछले साल विसर्जित की गई पीओपी की मूर्तियां जस की तस पड़ी है। पिछले दिनों पीओपी मूर्ति बनाने वालों को जागरूक करने प्रीतमलाल सभागृह में एक कार्यशाला भी आयोजित की गई थी! इसके बाद भी लाखों मूर्तियां बाजार में बनकर बिक चुकी है और अभी भी इनके बिकने का सिलसिला जारी है। जिला प्रशासन ने पांच बार इस मामले में बैठक ली है। लेकिन, अभी तक किसी भी मूर्तिकार पर न तो कार्रवाई की गई और न मूर्तियों को रोकने में सख्ती बरती गई।
